Our Story

The gospel is not central in every church.  For us, it defines our lives as Christians and is the focus of our gatherings.  When we noticed this lack of gospel intentionality in Abingdon, the Lord led us to start a gospel-centered, community-focused church.

A focus on practical hospitality, intentional discipleship and community engagement had been at the core of our personal ministry, and we lamented its lacking in a town and area that we have grown to love from the inside and out.

Through God’s providence, we began meeting in the Bednars’ living room in June 2018, and in September moved down to their basement to accommodate for more people.  In March 2019 we began meeting publicly at the Washington County Family Moose Center in Abingdon.  During the summer months of 2020 we partnered with Grace Christian Fellowship and met with them outdoors at their location.  After utilizing their space on Sunday afternoons for over 2 years, we are excited to now be using the Event Space in the newly renovated Summers building in downtown Abingdon.  Make plans to join us Sunday!

Why Abingdon?

There are many who ask the question, “Why another church in Abingdon?” Simply put, we understand church to be a community where lives are shared, and this is difficult to do from a distance; proximity is important. There are many Christians who drive to surrounding cities for church and often miss the opportunity and responsibility they have to embrace and be embraced by their community here in Abingdon.

Our focus is to reach out to non-believers and disengaged believers right here while at the same time building up, training, supporting, and sending out those who will take the Gospel where we cannot personally go. Will you join us in what God is starting here in Abingdon?
